ABOUT US

The Famous Cookie Creamery is a delicious collaboration of two iconic Philadelphia brands: The Famous 4th St Cookie Company and Bassetts Ice Cream. The Famous Cookie Creamery was founded in June 2019 when these longtime “neighbors” in the Reading Terminal Market decided to bring their specialty cookie ice cream sandwich to the Wildwood Boardwalk. The Famous Creamery signature novelty is an ice cream cookie sandwich: Fans can choose any combination of two cookies and their favorite flavor of ice cream to create a unique delicious treat.

The Famous 4th Street Cookie Company

Founded on 4th Street in South Philadelphia, Famous 4th Street Cookies has been serving Philadelphia’s most famous cookies in the Reading Terminal Market since 1978. Famous cookies taste homemade because they are homemade, using the same simply pure ingredients you’ll find in your own kitchen. The flagship product remains the Chocolate Chip Cookie, thick, moist, and delicious, though they now offer a variety of flavors, including Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter, and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. In addition to traditional cookies, the company also offers a variety of other sweet treats, such as their “Philly Style” Black & Whites and Famous Fudge Brownies. The company’s cookies have been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Bon Appétit. For more information, visit famouscookies.com.

Reading Terminal Market

The Reading Terminal Market opened for business on February 22, 1893. The new Market was approximately 78,000 square feet and held nearly 800 spaces for merchants, each positioned in six foot stalls. The Market was laid out in a grid system similar to the streets of Philadelphia. There were twelve aisles and four avenues. The newly formed Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority purchased the Reading Terminal Market from the Reading Company in 1990. In 1995, the Authority created a non-profit corporation to manage the Market. In the years since, this historic landmark has prospered. Today the Reading Terminal Market is one of the nation’s most successful public markets with more than 80 independent small businesses that offer an array of fresh and prepared foods, lunch counters, and places to eat and shop. The market was named “Best Public Market” by USA Today in both 2021 and 2022. For more information, visit readingterminalmarket.org.
